OnePlus has announced the OnePlus 2 Invites for a Cause campaign, which will see OnePlus auctioning off 100 invites for its new smartphone. All of the proceeds will go toward the UNICEF Tap Project, which aims to bring clean water to children around the globe.
OnePlus released 50 invites for bidding today, and it’ll release another 50 tomorrow. The invites are available from OnePlus’ official eBay shop, and as of this writing there are auctions as low as $31 and as high as $355. The auctions will run for five days, with the first batch ending August 8. If you win, you’ll have the chance to buy a 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus 2, and you’ll have one week to claim your invite and one month to buy your phone.
OnePlus explains that it’s holding this promotion because it’s noticed that some past OnePlus invite holders have decided to sell their invites to others. OnePlus has decided to sell the invites itself so that the money can go to a good cause instead. While the OnePlus 2 invite system has caught some flak in the past, at least OnePlus is now using it for good.
