Time for Google Now to gain another cool feature.
Google has announced that you can now use your voice to get Google Now to send messages using popular messaging apps like WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, Telegram, and NextPlus. To do it, you’ll just need to say something like “Ok Google, send a WhatsApp message to Megan,” and you’ll then be prompted to dictate your message.
This new Google Now feature is currently only available in English — though that doesn’t mean it’s US-only — but Google plans to add more languages in the future. El Goog is also planning to expand the apps that support the feature.
Google Now is always gaining cool new features, like the ability to display gas stations along your driving route, and Google recently expanded Now’s capabilities to support third-party apps. Now that feature includes the ability to send messages using third-party messaging apps, which allows you to free up your hands to do something else. The good news is that it supports major services like WhatsApp and Viber out of the gate. Here’s to hoping that it won’t be long before Google adds even more services.
If you’ve got an Android phone with one of the messaging services supported by this new Google Now feature, give it a shot and let me know how it goes!
