UPDATE: HTC’s Mo Versi says that the Android 5.1 update for the One M7 Google Play edition has been approved by Google and that it should begin rolling out soon.
One day after the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition got its Android 5.1 update, another GPe device is getting treated to the latest version of Lollipop.
Owners of the HTC One M8 Google Play edition are reporting that they’re now receiving an update to Android 5.1. The update weighs in at around 244.2MB, and if you haven’t yet gotten alerted to the update on your One M8 GPe, you can check for it manually by going into Settings > About phone > System updates > Check for updates.
Android 5.1 includes a handful of tweaks, like the ability to change Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections from the Quick Settings menu, as well as some general bug fixes and performance improvements. HTC previously said that the GPe One phones would start getting Android 5.1 in early April, so it’s nice to see HTC and Google sticking to that plan.
