OnePlus One owners, your Lollipop update is finally almost here.
OnePlus says that it will release its own OxygenOS ROM, which is based on Android 5.0, on or before March 27. OnePlus users will also be able to installed CyanogenMod 12S, which is also based on Android 5.0, when the update begins rolling out over the air on or before March 30.
These updates are coming a little later than OnePlus had previously anticipated. The company explains that some unexpected issues, like an OS signing issue and Lollipop-related camera problems caused the updates to be delayed. OnePlus promises that it’s committed to getting Android 5.0 to its users, though, and so it will give away five 64GB OnePlus One smartphones if it misses either of the aforementioned Lollipop rollout targets.
Obviously it’s kind of a bummer that Lollipop for the OnePlus One is coming later than expected, but hey, at least it’ll be here in less than two weeks. And what’s most exciting is that OPO users will have two different ROMs to choose from. It’ll be interesting to see what OnePlus’s own OxygenOS looks like and how many people choose to go with it over CyanogenMod.
