HTC 'Hold the Crown' rap video includes Peter Chou shout-outs, iPhone and Galaxy disses

HTC has shown that it’s not afraid of less traditional advertising in the past, working with Robert Downey Jr. on its Here’s To Change ads that gave us things like the Hipster Troll Carwash and Happy Telephone Company. Now HTC is continuing its strange advertising techniques with a rap video.

HTC recently released a new song called “Hold the Crown” that features PM Dawn’s Doc G and HTC’s David Bruce, aka D 2 tha B. Throughout the two-and-a-half minute jam, Doc G and D 2 tha B extol the qualities of the HTC One (M8), like its BoomSound front-facing speakers, and give shout-outs to HTC CEO Peter Chou. The pair also work in a slam or two directed toward the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy phones. Oh, and there’s also a person dancing in an HTC One (M8) costume.

The video is definitely interesting, and it’s gotten a lot of people talking about it since its release. That’s something that I’m sure HTC is pleased about, especially with its upcoming “utopia in progress” event, and it also gets attention off of all of the One (M9) leaks and rumors that’ve been floating around lately.

What do you think of HTC’s “Hold the Crown” video?
