UPDATE: Well, that was fast. The Limited Edition Black and Gold BlackBerry Passport is now sold out, so if this golden 'Berry appeals to you, hopefully you were able to snag one of the 50.
The BlackBerry Passport is already available in three different colors: your standard black and white, as well as a special red version. Today BlackBerry added a fourth version to that list, and this one’s a bit blingier than the others.
The Limited Edition Black and Gold BlackBerry Passport is now official. Just as its name suggests, only a handful of golden Passports will be sold: 50, to be precise. Pricing for this blingy ‘Berry will be set at $899 in the U.S. and $999 in Canada.
In exchange for your 10 Benjamins, you’ll get a black BlackBerry Passport with a gold-colored stainless steel frame and keyboard frets. The side of the device is engraved with the words “Limited Edition” and the device’s production number. BlackBerry is also throwing in a Valextra calf leather cover with a slim profile and “costa” lacquered piping.
While using the word “gold” to describe a smartphone is sure to turn off some folks, this Limited Edition Black and Gold BlackBerry Passport actually looks pretty classy, with golden accents rather than an ostentatious gold body. And while it might not be real gold, this version is more the within reach of regular folk than a $3000 gold-plated Passport.
What do you think of this golden Passport?
