Another one bites the dust.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play edition has been pulled from the Google Play store’s virtual shelves, with Google saying that the phone “is no longer available for sale.” The GS4 GPe’s removal from Google Play comes just days after the Moto G GPe was removed from the store.
It’s worth noting that the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition has been listed as “Out of Stock” in Google Play for a while, so it’s not like we’re suddenly unable to buy the device. Still, it’s kind of a bummer to see another GPe device leave Google Play.
Now the only GPe device that remains is the HTC One (M8), standing as the lone remnant of the GPe program that once got folks super excited because it combined the hardware of flagship Android smartphones with Google’s Nexus experience. It’s unclear if we’ll ever see more GPe devices launch, but considering how long it’s been since a new one has arrived, the future of the GPe program isn’t exactly looking bright.
