Gold Nokia Lumia 930, Lumia 830 models revealed by Microsoft

Gold smartphones have become a thing in mobile, with companies like Apple, HTC, LG, and Samsung all offering golden smartphones. Now Microsoft is getting in on the action too.

Microsoft today revealed gold versions of the Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 that have anodized gold outer edges and black or white backsides. The regular Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 units have silver or black anodized outer edges.

Outside of the golden finish, these Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 models are just like the non-golden models that are already available. That means that the Lumia 830’s got a 5-inch 720p display and 10-megapixel PureView camera, while the Lumia 930 has a 5-inch 1080p screen and a 20-megapixel PureView shooter.

Microsoft says that the golden Lumia 930 will launch in black this week and in white at the end of January and that it’ll be sold in “select countries” in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific, China, and the Middle East. Both the black and white versions of the Lumia 830 will arrive n February in select countries in Europe, Asia Pacific, China, and India. Pricing for both models will vary by region and carrier.

As a fan of golden smartphones, I have to say that these gold Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 models look pretty spiffy, particularly the white gold Lumia 930. While you can’t really describe gold phones as “subtle”, the gold on these phones is tastefully done and not terribly ostentatious. Now I’ve just got to figure out a way to get one in the U.S.

What do you think of these gold Windows Phone devices?
