Verizon LG G3 update brings Advanced Calling 1.0 support and more

Despite the fact that Verizon used the LG G3 in its promo images for Advanced Calling 1.0, the G3 didn’t actually support the feature when it launched earlier this year. That’s finally changing today.

Verizon has announced an update for its version of the LG G3 that brings with it Advanced Calling 1.0 support. The feature includes HD Voice for high-quality voice calls, 1-way or 2-way video calls, 6-way conference calls and simultaneous voice and data.

Also included in this LG G3 update are updated versions of the My Verizon Mobile, Softcard Wallet and GMS R5 apps as well as various LG apps. Verizon says that the update fixes an issue that would cause the G3 to just show “Updating……” when switching email folders.

Overall this looks like a nice update for Verizon LG G3 owners. Obviously the biggie here is Advanced Calling 1.0, which will significantly expand your G3’s voice calling capabilities. It’s worth noting, though, that you’ll need to call another Advanced Calling 1.0-capable handset to get those features. Included in that group of devices is the LG G2, LG G3, Apple iPhone 6, Apple iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S5, Motorola DROID MAXX and Motorola DROID Mini.
