Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 update begins rolling out

Remember that rumor that claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S5 would begin getting Android 5.0 in December? Well, it looks like it was accurate.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) is now receiving its update to Android 5.0, reports SamMobile, with the rollout starting in Poland. It’s expected that the Lollipop update will begin rolling out to other European countries shortly.

Previous leaks have shown that Samsung’s update to Android 5.0, while still mostly TouchWiz-ified, does include Lollipop goodies like lock screen notifications, heads-up alerts and Material design refreshes for many core apps.

As for when other Galaxy S5 models will receive Android 5.0, well, that’s still a mystery. The Galaxy S5 is one of Samsung’s current flagship phones, though, and so I imagine that the company will want to push Lollipop to it in other regions as quickly as possible. Hopefully we don’t have to wait long into 2015 for other locales, like the U.S., to begin getting their GS5 Lollipop updates.
