The BlackBerry Classic is expected to officially launch on December 17, but if you’re super excited for the mashup of old and new BlackBerry, then that wait may seem like an eternity. Today BlackBerry has attempted to make that wait go by a little quicker by sharing a video of the Classic in action.
In a minute-long video that’s been posted to YouTube, BlackBerry gives us a quick look at the browser on the BlackBerry Classic. BlackBerry touts that its browser is “fast and quick” and also shows how users can quickly share a website by clicking the Menu button on the Classic’s tool belt of navigation keys.
BlackBerry also briefly talks up the Classic’s app selection. The Amazon Appstore is available for consumer apps, while BlackBerry World is home to work and productivity-focused apps.
The Classic combines new BlackBerry software — OS 10.3, specifically — with an old-school BlackBerry Bold styling to combine the best of both BlackBerry worlds. While the BlackBerry Classic isn’t likely to convert many non-BlackBerry users to the platform, it could be appealing to those that are still on BlackBerry 7 or anyone that was once a BlackBerry user but has left the camp.
The BlackBerry Classic is now available for pre-order in the U.S., U.K. and Canada for $449/£349.00. BlackBerry is holding a Classic launch event on December 17, and so it’s expected that the phone will begin to roll out on that date.
