HTC has already said that it plans to update its flagship One (M7) and One (M8) smartphones to Android 5.0 Lollipop within 90 days of Google’s release of the final code. Luckily for the more impatient among us, screenshots of HTC’s big update may have just leaked.
Screenshots shared by YouMobile claim to show HTC’s Sense 7 running on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. Most of the icons are still very Sense-like, but there are some Lollipop touches included in the images. For example, the hamburger button in the upper-left corner of the “Battery History” screen is reminiscent of Google’s Material Design-ified Play Store, and the stats themselves are displayed on cards.
It’s worth noting that these screenshots are unofficial, and so it’s possible that they’re early or completely fake. HTC has said that it plans to push Android 5.0 updates in a timely manner, though, and so it’s possible that the company is already hard at work on them. And as we’ve seen in the past, custom Android manufacturer overlays often incorporate a few Google tweaks while remaining heavily customized.
