The evidence of an impending HTC Nexus tablet has grown in recent months, and most recently we got our most concrete evidence yet in the form of a Wi-Fi certification document. Now that the tablet itself seems like a lock, the rumor mill is turning its attention to its accessories.
Details on a new keyboard case for the HTC Flounder/Volantis have been shared by Android Police. An image shows that the cover will have segmented sections — similar to Apple’s Smart Cover — that will fold up and support the tablet when in use. The case is expected to initiate the pairing process with the Flounder/Volantis using NFC, with Bluetooth being used for pairing afterward.
The keyboard case is said to measure around 228 x 320 x 5mm, with the part that covers the screen coming in at 228 x 153mm, the latter of which gives us an idea of the size of the Flounder/Volantis itself. Finally, the keyboard is reportedly powered by a 450mAh battery.
We’ve seen plenty of official accessories for Nexus devices in the past, including cases and covers, but this keyboard case looks to be a bit beyond that. Adding a real keyboard could make the Flounder/Volantis more enticing for on-the-go work, which may be part of a Google effort to make Android/Nexus a bit more business/enterprise-friendly.
