Sony Xperia Z3 may launch on Sprint, SoftBank

We’ve seen a lot of changes in the past week or so with Sprint and its new CEO, including its Family Share Pack and $60 Unlimited Plan. Apparently those changes are extending to hardware, too, as a new report claims that Sprint will soon sell Sony goods.

Sources speaking to Reuters and the Wall Street Journal say that Sprint and SoftBank will soon sell a flagship Sony Xperia smartphone. No specific details regarding the specific device or its availability were given.

Since the reports describe the upcoming Sony Xperia phone as a “flagship,” it seems likely that the device in question is the Xperia Z3. Sony is expected to unveil the new Xperia Z3 at IFA next month. Sprint and Sony haven’t worked together much in the past, with Sony partnering primarily with T-Mobile lately. If this Sprint news is true, it could help Sony try to gain some traction in the U.S. by getting its new flagship on another major carrier.
