Like the rest of you, I’ve been subject to the iPhone leaks practically every single day. Here’s what it looks on the inside one day, and here’s an assembly cable the next. You need more looks at the back panel? People have got you covered. We know that Apple is finally going to officially unveil the device on September 9, and that date can’t come soon enough — if only for the fact the leaks will stop.
Well, until we start talking about the iPhone 6s, I guess. Sigh.
As the leaks have surfaced, and we’ve recycled the same news posts over and over again, I’ve come to realize that I’m not necessarily looking forward to the hardware of the next iPhone. Sure, it’ll probably look great, and I’m sure there will be plenty of tweaks and improvements that will make me want to buy it, but right now I’m just not all that focused on it.
It might have something to do with the fact that I’m not suffering from screen envy. I haven’t been shy about screen sizes, and the fact that I’m not a fan of anything that’s above five inches. Or even five inches. I think the 4.7-inch screen size is just about the limit for me, so it’s great that Apple’s supposedly gearing up to launch a device that size. But, honestly, if they trolled the world and launched a new iPhone with a screen size measuring four inches, I’d be perfectly okay with that.
It is, admittedly, a change of pace from last year, when I just wanted a bigger iPhone running iOS 7. However, now that I’ve used iOS 8 off-and-on throughout the beta period, I realize that I just want the software now. Not the beta software, either, but the finalized version of it. (And I want the finalized version of OS X Yosemite, too, to really take advantage of all the new stuff.)
I know quite a few people who have just outright refused to use iOS because the iPhone’s display hasn’t been big enough, and I get that. I’m the odd-one-out when it comes to screen size. But, the closer we get to September 9, the more I realize I just want it to be the end of September so I can update my current device — if I don’t upgrade.
How do you feel about the next iPhone? Are you looking forward to the hardware, in upgrading your device, or are you looking forward more to the software? If you own an iPhone 5s, do you plan on getting the iPhone 6? Let me know!
