It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the rumored HTC Nexus tablet, which has gone by the codenames “flounder” and “volantis,” but thankfully that drought is coming to an end today.
The Wi-Fi Alliance has certified (PDF link) a new HTC tablet that’s listed as running AOSP and Android L. In the Firmware Version portion of the document, we can clearly see the name “flounder,” suggesting that this is indeed the rumored HTC Nexus slate. Also included is the model number 0P8210000 and the SKUs 0P8220000 and 0P8230000.
While this Wi-Fi certificate doesn’t really reveal much in the way of new information about the HTC Nexus tablet, it does give support to the device’s existence. The rumor mill has suggested that the HTC Nexus tablet could land sometime in Q4 2014, so it’s possible that it could arrive alongside the public release of Android L, which is slated to roll out in the fall.
