Kyocera Hydro Life launching on T-Mobile, MetroPCS with rugged body

After leaking out last month, the Kyocera Hydro Life is now officially official.

Kyocera today announced the Hydro Life, which will be available for T-Mobile customers at Walmart on August 8 for $124.99. MetroPCS will begin selling the Hydro Life on August 29.

As its name suggests, the Hydro Life is waterproof, being able to withstand full immersion in up to 1 meter (3.28 feet) of water for 30 minutes. Its IP57 rating also means that its dust resistant, and it also meets Mil-Spec 810G for protection from drops and shocks.

Outside of its rugged features, the Hydro Life features a 4.5-inch 960x540 impact-resistant touchscreen, 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It also supports T-Mobile’s HSPA+ service and Wi-Fi Calling functionality. Finally, the Hydro Life is powered by a 2000mAh battery.

The Kyocera Hydro Life may not boast bleeding edge specs, but its ruggedized shell should help it stand up to just about any tumbles that the average user will give it. And that’s exactly who this phone is for: someone that’s a bit clumsy and wants a handset that can stand up to their klutziness.
