We’ve seen quite a surge in the smartwatch market over the past year or two thanks to products like the Pebble and Android Wear, but so far most of the devices have looked more like geeky accessories or boring black squares rather than fashionable wristwear. HP is looking to buck that trend by teaming up with designed Michael Bastian.
HP’s new smartwatch is compatible with both Android and iOS and features a stylish, sporty design. Michael Bastian designed the watch to feature a round, 44mm case made of stainless steel that can be paired with bands that are black rubber, brown leather, green nylon or straight-up black.
When it comes to the smartwatch’s software, HP is giving the wearable support for email, text and call notifications, music playback controls and more.
This new smartwatch is slated to go on sale in the fall through retailer Gilt. There’s no word on how much it’ll cost, but considering its stylish design and stainless steel case, I’m betting that it won’t fit into the “affordable” category. Still, it could be worth keeping an eye on if you’re looking for a new timepiece that’s as good-looking as it is smart.
