Earlier this year, Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen promised that his popular mobile game would return in August. Nguyen didn’t waste any time, as his game is now available in the Amazon Appstore.
Flappy Birds Family landed in the Amazon Appstore today with support for Amazon’s Fire TV as well as some notable changes. Included in the new game are ghost obstacles and a a Person vs Person mode. Nguyen also says that the game is “more fun and still very hard.”
The original Flappy Bird enjoyed quite a bit of success on Android and iOS earlier this year before Nguyen pulled the game. He later explained that he yanked Flappy Bird because it had become too addictive for some and that it had “become a problem.” This new version likely aims to fix that issue, though Nguyen does caution that users should “Enjoy playing the game at home (not breaking your TV)…”
It’s unclear if or when this new Flappy Birds Family will make its way onto other mobile platforms. For now it looks like anyone that shelled out for an Amazon Fire TV will get the first crack at the new and improved Flappy Bird.
