After giving us a brief preview of some of the new features of BlackBerry 10.3 back in May, BlackBerry today introduced what might be the biggest addition to its mobile OS.
BlackBerry today announced its new BlackBerry Assistant feature that’ll come preloaded with the BlackBerry 10.3 update. As you might expect, BlackBerry Assistant is BlackBerry’s take on the virtual assistant feature that most every mobile platform now has.
BlackBerry Assistant is voice activated and can do things like search your device’s email and calendar, send invitations and more. BlackBerry says that as you continue to use Assistant, it’ll learn from you and better understand your searches. BlackBerry Assistant can also perform functions like reading emails aloud, marked messages as Unread, creating reminders and toggle settings like for your notifications and other features.
With BlackBerry Assistant, updated and box-less icons, camera UI improvements and more, BlackBerry 10.3 is shaping up to be a pretty significant update. While it remains to be seen if the combination of BB10.3, the BlackBerry Passport and the BlackBerry Classic can help BlackBerry regain some of the market share that its lost in recent years, all of these new goodies should at least keep the BlackBerry faithful happy for a bit longer.
