Following its debut back at the beginning of April, the Nokia Lumia 635 is now available for pre-order in the U.S.

Microsoft is now accepting pre-orders for the AT&T and T-Mobile versions of the Lumia 635, but it hasn’t said when the units will actually ship. The Lumia 635 comes pre-loaded with Windows Phone 8.1 and the Lumia Cyan update, meaning that buyers will be on the freshest version of Windows Phone available. 

On its face, the Lumia 635 features a 4.5-inch 854x480 ClearBlack display with software navigation buttons, and around back there’s a 5-megapixel camera. Inside the device is 8GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400. Also included is HSPA+ 42.2Mbps on the 850/1900/2100MHz bands as well as LTE support on the 4 and 7 bands.

The AT&T model of the Lumia 635 is priced at $99 without a commitment, while the T-Mobile flavor costs $129 (weird, right?). It’s also worth noting that the former unit comes in black while the latter is white. However, the Lumia 635’s back plate can be swapped out, meaning that you can give the device a yellow, green or orange backside if you’d like.

The Lumia 635 looks like a pretty solid deal for anyone on the hunt for a GSM smartphone. While it doesn’t pack blazing specs, the Lumia 635 looks like a pretty respectable device for only around $100 without a commitment. The combo of a quad-core processor and Windows Phone 8.1 on the 635 should help it to perform adequately, and the swappable backsides means that you can make it a bit more personal.
