We’ve seen Android manufacturers launch more and more of their core apps into the Google Play Store lately, including Google Camera, Motorola Gallery and HTC BlinkFeed. Today that trend continued thanks to the release of another Google app.

Google has launched its stock “Email” app into the Play Store. The Email app allows users to manage their non-Gmail accounts, including Hotmail, Yahoo! and Outlook. This standalone version of the Email app is also an updated version of the existing app that brings the following improvements:

• Increased security for Gmail accounts
• Easier account setup flow
• Printing
• Other bug fixes

This app is currently only compatible with Nexus devices and select Google Play edition hardware, though for some reason the GPe HTC One (M7) and Samsung Galaxy S 4 devices aren’t compatible with this update. Regardless, it’s good to see Google continue to break its apps out of the core Android OS, making it easier to roll out updates to its apps since they don’t need to push a full OS update to do so.
