Samsung’s got quite a few tablet products in its stable, including the Galaxy Tab 4 and Galaxy Tab Pro and Note Pro families, and we expect to see some new additions on June 12. It looks like we don’t have to wait that long for Samsung’s tablet product portfolio to grow, though, as Barnes & Noble has announced that it’s teaming up with Samsung to launch a new device.
Barnes & Noble revealed today that it’s partnering with Samsung to create the “Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook,” a co-branded device that will take the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 and combine it with B&N’s Nook software. That’ll include access to B&N’s collection of more than 3 million books, magazines and newspapers.
The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is expected to hit Barnes & Noble store shelves in early August. B&N says that it will still offer its Nook GlowLight e-reader and also give support to its other Nook customers.
The original Galaxy Tab 4 features a 7-inch 1280x800 display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 3-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, 1.5GB of RAM, a microSD slot and Android 4.4 KitKat. Details on the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook’s specs and pricing haven’t been announced, but the regular Tab 4 costs $199.99, and I wouldn’t expect the Nook-ified model to be priced much higher than that.
