It’s been a while since we’ve heard any details about Microsoft’s rumored smartwatch, but today that drought has been broken with a new report that includes new information about the unannounced device.
According to Forbes, Microsoft’s smartwatch will be “sensor-rich” and will be able to measure the wearer’s heart rate throughout the day and night. The device will reportedly be able to sync with iOS, Android and Windows Phone. Finally, the watch’s battery is expected to last two days on a single charge.
The report also includes details about the design of the rumored Microsoft smartwatch. The device is said to look similar to Samsung Gear Fit and sport a color touchscreen that’s “about the size of half a stick of gum.” The screen is purportedly located on the inside of the wearer’s wrist, which is meant to make it easier and more private for the person to check notifications.
There’s no concrete evidence regarding the Microsoft smartwatch’s release date, but it could arrive as early as this summer. While the device certainly won’t be the first smartwatch to track a wearer’s heart rate, it’s ability to sync with the three major mobile platforms could give it a much wider appeal than some of the other wearables on the market.
