The past month or so has been pretty big for HTC thanks to the launch of its new flagship smartphone, the One (M8). Today there’s some less-than-exciting news for Peter Chou and Co., though, as it’s been revealed that two HTC executives are leaving the company.

First up, HTC has confirmed to The Verge that Scott Croyle will be departing the company. Croyle, who has been with HTC since 2008 and most recently led the firm’s hardware team, will likely be replaced by his deputy, Jonah Becker. HTC explains that Croyle’s departure will be a “long-term transition” that’ll see him remain on with the company as a consultant during the coming months.

HTC also confirmed that Drew Bamford is being promoted to head of HTC’s software and services teams. Bamford previously served as lead of the Sense user experience.

Finally, Ford Davidson has told Geekwire that he, too, is leaving HTC. Davidson joined HTC nearly three years ago when his mobile backup service Dashwire was acquired by the Taiwanese firm. “HTC recently launched the new HTC One (M8), which is amazing, and our team on the software/service experience side, is rocking, so timing is good for me to get back to entrepreneurship,” Davidson explained.

HTC experienced quite a few executive departures as part of its bumpy 2013, but we haven’t really seen any employees head out the exit door recently. That’s changing in a big way now, though. It’s a big deal to hear that Scott Croyle is leaving HTC because the company has received quite a bit of praise for its hardware design recently, but luckily for HTC, he’ll be staying on in the coming months to help the company figure out how it’ll function without him.
