Well, that didn’t take long. Right after we told you about T-Mobile CMO Mike Sievert’s tease that his operator had “another big throw-down” coming soon, T-Mo has officially announced brand new rate plan.

Known as “Simple Starter,” T-Mobile’s new plan includes unlimited talk and text, 500MB of 4G LTE data and tethering support. Once a customer hits that 500MB threshold, he or she will be informed that the data allotment has been used up and that additional data is available at a rate of $5 for a 1-day pass with 500MB of usage or $10 for a 7-day pass with 1GB of data.

T-Mobile also notes that the Simple Starter plan is compatible with its early termination fee reimbursement offer as well as its JUMP early upgrade program. Simple Starter will be available starting April 12.

While 500MB may not seem like a ton of data, the Simple Starter plan could be a good choice for folks that spend a lot of time on Wi-Fi or are just light data users. T-Mobile says that one of the highlights of its new plan is that those folks that do hit their 500MB limit won’t automatically be charged overages; instead, they’ll just be given the option of buying more data.

T-Mobile says that the Simple Starter plan is just the first of three major announcements that it’s got planned in the coming days. There’s no word yet on exactly what the next moves will be, but T-Mo is certainly off to a nice start with its new plan.
