Motorola may offer leather option in Moto Maker customization tool

Sunday funday? More like Sunday Motoday. Earlier today we got wind of a mysterious Motorola device known as the “Moto X+1” thanks to a leaked image of a logo, and now it appears that more of Moto’s future plans have been revealed to the Internet.

A Tweet sent today by @evleaks reads “2013:wood::2014:leather.” While that may not mean much to most folks, it starts to come together when you remember that Motorola made headlines last year when it added wood back options to its Moto Maker customization tool. Taking that into consideration, this new Tweet seems to suggest that Motorola may allow users to add leather backs to their devices in 2014.

Since there’s not much more to this Tweet than the implication that Motorola will offer leather as a personalization option, it’s not clear if the custom back will be offered as an upgrade for the existing Moto X or if it’ll be available with the Moto X+1 or whatever the next Moto X ends up being called. Whichever it is, it’s still exciting to learn that consumers may soon be able to get a Motorola device with a leather back. The Moto Maker customization tool is a great way to make a device more personal and unique, and while Samsung does offer a couple devices with leather backsides, it’s still a fairly uncommon texture in the mobile world.

Would you be interested in a Moto X with a leather back?
