Android fans know that Google often selects Wednesday as the day of the week to issue updates to its apps, and this Wednesday is no different.

Google today announced a new update to its Google Search app for Android that enables users to launch either the photo or video camera with a voice command. After tapping the microphone on your device's display, simply saying "Ok Google" followed by either "take a photo" or "take a video" will launch the camera app in the mode that you've specified.

There is a myriad of ways to launch the camera app on Android phones, including a lock screen widget and an icon on the home screen. These new voice commands give users another way to quickly jump into their camera to capture a moment, and because having more choice is always a good thing, this update to Google Search is a welcome one. Plus, you know, it's always cool to perform actions using only your voice.

The other update being issued today is to Google Keyboard. The new version of the app is 3.0.19373, and it brings with it a new Personalized Suggestions setting. This feature utilizes data from other Google apps and services to improve the corrections and suggestions that Google Keyboard gives you. Google says that the information is only stored on your device, but if you'd rather not have any data stored at all, you can turn off Personalized Suggestions in Google Keyboard's Settings menu.

This new Google Keyboard update also includes an "ABC" key that can be used to jump back to the keyboard from the emjoi list as well as a new Settings icon that'll pop up after long-pressing the microphone.
