Heads up, would-be iPhone buyers: Apple recently made a change to the return policy of its iOS smartphone that you may want to be aware of.
As noted by 9to5Mac, Apple has shortened the return window for iPhones from 30 days to 14 days. The company's website has been updated to reflect the change, and an Apple retail source speaking to the site says that the change will officially take effect on March 13.
The reason behind the change is reportedly because Apple wants its own iPhone return policy to be the same as the ones offered by its carrier partners. The change will also help to eliminate confusion from customers that would return an iPhone inside of Apple's 30-day window but after their carrier's 14-day timeframe, which would lead to them getting cash back for the device but also being subject to an early termination fee.
Obviously it's kind of a bummer to learn that Apple is shortening its iPhone return policy, as it means that consumers now have 16 days less to decide whether or not they want to keep their device. It does make sense for Apple to have a return window that's similar to those offered by its partners, though, because now the Cupertino firm doesn't have to worry about customers unexpectedly being hit by an ETF if they decide to return their iPhone 15 days after buying it.
