Holes. Time. Colors. Also, like its predecessor, look for M8 to arrive as a Google Play Edition. pic.twitter.com/HtklHp2GP1

HTC has had a tough time keeping its follow-up to the One under wraps. The device, codenamed M8, has appeared in several image leaks in recent months and was even the star of a 12-minute hands-on video that exposed just about every nook and cranny of the all new One. Those leaks continue today thanks to the emergence of a new case image as well as a tip regarding a special version of the device.
An image shared by @evleaks shows the dual rear camera-packin' M8 in a unique flip cover case with holes in its front half. Some of the holes are lit up, displaying both the time and the weather.
HTC offered a couple of special cases for the original One, including a Double Dip Flip case that's similar to the one shown in today's leaked image. That's why it's no surprise that the Taiwanese device maker is prepping another unique case for the M8. There's no word on how much this light-up case might cost, but it definitely looks like a unique take on the quick-view windowed flip covers that we've seen lately from Samsung and LG.
In the same tweet, @evleaks says that there will be a Google Play edition of the HTC M8. The original HTC One got the Google Play edition treatment last year, giving consumers the chance to buy a device that combined HTC's aluminum unibody design with a vanilla version of Android. While leaks have shown that the M8 will likely come with a refreshed version of HTC's Sense overlay, I'm sure that there will still be many folks that'd rather have a version of the device with Google's version of Android, and so it's good to hear that that option will probably be available.
Between the Google Play edition and the Sense-equipped model, which version of the HTC M8 do you think that you'd rather have?
UPDATE: Another purported HTC M8 render has leaked. This latest image, shared by MobileSyrup, is said to be an official press render of the Telus version of the M8. Check the image out below.
