Look, I know that I'm just a simple phone nerd, not some marketing executive or expert on advertising techniques. Even without any experience in creating ads, though, I have to agree with most of the Internet's assessment of LG's new G Flex commercial, which makes me more scared than it does eager to buy a curved smartphone.
LG today posted a new two-minute video advertising the G Flex, one of its newer phones that's known for its curved body and self-healing backside. The ad depicts two friends at a restaurant for a birthday, and one of them is given a G Flex for a gift. When he opens the box, though, his hand suddenly grows a beard and an ear, resembling a third friend who is talking on the phone. Yeah, kinda scary.
The ad describes the G Flex as the "most human phone ever," and so I understand what LG is trying to get at with this spot. One downside to the whole clip, besides the fact that freaks out most people that watch it, is that the G Flex itself is barely shown during the entire two minute duration. The video is definitely getting everyone talking, though, which I suppose should make LG happy with itself. You can check the video out for yourself down below. Just don't say I didn't warn you if you're unable to get to sleep tonight.
