Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy S5 at its Unpacked 2014 Episode 1 event next week, and as a result, many rumors are flying around and trying to pin down the new flagship's spec details ahead of its announcement. Today another report has surfaced that claims to have the goods on the Galaxy S5.
A source speaking to Bloomberg claims that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S5 with a 5.2-inch display that is "sharper" than the 5-inch 1080p screen found on the Galaxy S 4. Also said to be included in the next Galaxy flagship is an "improved battery and camera." Finally, today's report claims that Samsung could sell the Galaxy S5 at a price lower than that of its previous Galaxy phones at the request of at least one carrier.
While the Galaxy S 4 is still a pretty respectable Android flagship, it's no shock to hear that Samsung is planning to pack its successor with a higher-end set of specs. So far we've heard that a beefier battery, camera, processor and screen will be included, all of which are pretty standard upgrades for a new flagship. Today's leak doesn't go into detail on how the S5's display will be "sharper" than the S 4's, but a previous report claimed that the S5 won't feature a high-res WHQD screen, so it'll be interesting to learn the details of the S5's display. One other feature that's rumored to be coming with the Galaxy S5 is a fingerprint sensor that's built into the device's home button.
One other tidbit that's worth noting: If the Galaxy S5 does indeed come to market with a 5.2-inch screen, its display will only be a hair smaller than the one found on the original Samsung Galaxy Note. Our perception of just how large a big phone is certainly has changed in recent years.
