Google Glass today took another big step toward being ready for public consumption with the debut of the Titanium Collection.
Included in the new collection are four different glasses frame styles — Split, Thin, Bold and Curve — that simply screw onto Google's high-tech eyewear. The frames are priced at $225 each, and Google says that users with prescription lenses and vision insurance may be eligible for financial help. Also announced today are two new styles of twist-on sunglass shades for Google Glass.
Google Glass is still only available to members of its Explorer testing program at a price of $1,500 per unit. The eyewear definitely appears to be getting closer and closer to being ready for a public launch, though: Google has not only been improving the Glass hardware itself, but it has added headphones for listening to music, and now we've got these new frames and support for prescription lenses. Of course, just because Google is getting Glass ready for the public doesn't necessarily guarantee that the public will be ready for Glass once it finally launches, but these new frames and shades do at least make Glass a bit more inconspicuous.
What do you think of Google's new Glass frames and shades? Do they make you more interested in Google's eyewear than you were before?
