Been patiently waiting to get your hands on a walnut-backed Moto X ever since Motorola first announced plans to make a wooden phone last year? Your time has finally arrived, my timber-obsessed friend, because Motorola is now selling four different kinds of wood covers for the Moto X in its MotoMaker customization tool.
Just as promised, consumers can now create a Moto X with a teak, walnut or ebony finish in addition to the bamboo cover that's been available since last month. Selecting one of the "natural" rear panels will add $25 to the total cost of the Moto X, meaning that the no-contract 16GB model will end up at $424.99 while the 32GB variant will wind up costing buyers $474.99. Customers can also opt to sign a two-year commitment for their wooden Moto X if they'd rather not shell out hundreds upfront.
These wooden backs have certainly been a long time coming, as Motorola first teased them when it first introduced us to the Moto X way back in August 2013. The good news is that they've finally arrived, and what's more, they're $75 cheaper than the bamboo backsides cost when they first arrived a month ago.
