Remember the YotaPhone? This unique Android-powered smartphone first popped up on our radar way back in December 2012 and gained quite a bit of attention from the smartphone world thanks to the fact that it features two displays: a 4.3-inch 720p LCD on one side and a 4.3-inch 640x360 E Ink panel on the other. We haven't heard much about the YotaPhone since then, but today Russian company Yota Devices has broken its silence by announcing when its double-screen phone will finally go on sale.
Speaking to TechCrunch, Yota Devices has revealed that the YotaPhone will go on sale internationally in December. There aren't any other launch or pricing details available quite yet, but this December timeframe is certainly more precise than the "latter half of 2013" window that we were given last year.
Along with its dual 4.3-inch displays, the YotaPhone includes a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 13-megapixel rear and 1-megapixel front cameras, 32GB storage, 2GB RAM and an 1800mAh battery. Yota Devices has chosen to preload Android 4.2.2 onto its dual-display handset. Overall the YotaPhone may not be the most bleeding edge smartphone we've seen recently, but it looks like it should be a decent performer. And after all, most folks that are interested in the YotaPhone are likely more interested in its two displays rather than buying a phone with oodles of cores and RAM.
What do you think of the YotaPhone? Would you consider carrying it as your daily driver?
