Mozilla and Telefónica teased earlier this month that they would be bringing a second round of Firefox OS hardware to market in the near future, and tonight the two companies followed through on their promise. Telefónica Vivo today kicked off Firefox OS smartphone sales in Brazil with the Alcatel One Touch Fire, which first debuted earlier in 2013, as well as a new device from LG known as the Fireweb.

The LG Fireweb is the first Firefox OS device from LG, and it also happens to be the largest. The Fireweb features a 4-inch 480x320 touchscreen on its face, up from the 3.5-inch displays found on the One Touch Fire and ZTE's Open, as well as a 5-megapixel camera on its backside. Inside of the device is a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 2GB storage, microSD card slot and a 1540mAh battery. On the software side of things, the Fireweb comes preloaded with Firefox OS 1.1, which Mozilla has previously said includes new features like adaptive app search and MMS messaging.

Mozilla's Firefox OS is still early on in its life, so it's good to see the platform making its way into new markets like Brazil. Telefónica doesn't plan on stopping there, though, as it says that it plans to follow its Brazilian release by rolling out Firefox OS hardware in Mexico, Peru and Uruguay soon.
