The Nexus 5 has leaked out more times than I can keep track of at this point, but tonight we're getting our first official look at the device thanks to Google itself.
An official render of the Nexus 5 and a Google Play Store entry for the device have been discovered by Android Police. As you can see in the official image above, it turns out that the Nexus 5 that's been leaking left and right lately is the real deal. The home screen features transparent status and navigation button bars as well as new icons for the launcher, Camera app and Phone app. The phone itself features a large camera housing and Nexus 7-like branding on its backside, a volume rocker on its left side and a circular earpiece on its face.
Meanwhile, a listing for the Nexus 5 made its way onto the Google Play Store tonight, casually appearing next to entries for the new Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 like it's no big deal. The entry confirms the name "Nexus 5" and includes the tagline "Capture the everyday and the epic in fresh new ways. Starting at $349." Clicking the link leads to a dead end, but the URL for that page includes "nexus_5_black_16gb" at the end, suggesting that the 16GB Nexus 5 will be priced at $349 whenever Google gets around to launching it.
We haven't heard any word from Google or LG regarding this new Nexus smartphone, but tonight's leak combined with the impending one-year anniversary of the Nexus 4's debut makes it feel as though we're getting close to an official Nexus 5 announcement. The good news is that now we've at least got an idea of how much the new Nexus smartphone will cost. So what do you all think?
