Looks like two of Verizon's current flagship Android phones have updates in their immediate future. Today Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S 4 began receiving a small bump to to software version I545VRUDMI1 through the Software Update Assistant software. This is basically a maintenance update that brings with it new versions of preloaded apps like Air View and S Translator. One new feature included in the 150.3MB update is Samsung's Optical Reader app, which uses the device's camera to extract information from words and QR codes and also translate text that's printed in another language. Samsung's changelog for the I545VRUDMI1 update is as follows:

Meanwhile, Motorola has started to send out emails to owners of the Verizon-flavored Moto X that are a part of the Motorola Feedback Network. The emails invite users to take part in an "early preview" of a new software update, but unfortuntately for us, there's no mention of exactly what tweaks the update contains. However, we've seen AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile's Moto X variants receive updates with several cameraand Touchless Control tweaks, and so it seems likely that that's what's in store for Verizon users as well. Stay tuned and I'll give you a shout once more details on the update emerge.
