Best Buy leak teases trade-in promo that'll give $100 gift card toward iPhone 5s or 5c purchase [UPDATED]

Best Buy $100 smartphone trade-in iPhone 5s iPhone 5c leak

A number of promotions have popped up recently that are aimed at getting an iPhone 5c into your pocket at a discounted price. Best Buy was one of the first retailers out of the gate with such an offer, and if a new leak is to be believed, the company's got another deal that'll save consumers even more cash.

An internal document shared by TechnoBuffalo shows that Best Buy may be planning to launch a new $100 trade-in offer for both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. According to the leak, consumers will be able to turn in "any working smartphone" and receive at least a $100 Best Buy gift card that can then be put toward the cost of a new iPhone with a two-year contract. The phone that's being traded in must be in working condition and have no screen cracks or liquid damage.

This new Best Buy deal is expected to run from Oct. 13 through Oct. 19. Consumers that'd like to start their weekend off right with a shiny new smartphone may be able to do just that, though, as the leaked image also claims that Best Buy Mobile standalone stores will offer the promo for the iPhone 5c only on Oct. 11 and Oct. 12.

After applying the $100 gift card included with this promo, customers will be able to pick up a 16GB iPhone 5c for $0 on contract or a 16GB iPhone 5s for just $99. Both are pretty good deals for the still-fresh Apple smartphones, and it's nice to see that unlike the other recent promos, the 5s may be included in Best Buy's next offer. UPDATE: Best Buy has confirmed the promotion to AllThingsD. The retailer says that in exchange for any working smartphone, it'll give customers a gift card worth at least $100. That knocks the base price of the iPhone 5c to $0 and the iPhone 5s to $99. The promotion will officially run from Oct. 13 through Oct. 19, though Best Buy Mobile stores will be kicking off the iPhone 5c part of the promotion starting today.
