After leaking left, right, up, down and pretty much every other direction in recent months, it looks like the official debut of the HTC One Max is finally upon us.
A new report from The Wall Street Journal claims that HTC will take the wraps off of its latest addition to the One family on Oct. 15. The publication also backs up previous rumors about the One Max sporting a fingerprint sensor, although it's unclear exactly what kind of uses that the scanner will have on the One Max. Finally, the report goes on to say that the One Max will also include a 5.9-inch screen and UltraPixel camera.
HTC has yet to officially comment on the WSJ's report on the One Max, but the Taiwanese firm has sent out invitations to a pair of events in Asia that seemingly support the rumors of an impending announcement. Engadget has received invitations to HTC product launches in Taiwan on Oct. 16 and Hong Kong on Oct. 18. Included with the documents is the teaser "One finger opens up a big view. You are invited to immerse in the sound with us." Sounds like one application for that fingerprint scanner will be unlocking the One Max.
Even though we've already got a pretty good idea of what the HTC One Max looks like and what kind of specs it'll include, it'll still be nice to finally have the thing be made officially official. After all, not only will we then have a concrete rundown of the features that makes it tick, but we'll also be one step closer to actually having the phone in our hands.
There's still no word on when the One Max will actually hit store shelves, but some recently-leaked photos that showed the device hanging out inside a Verizon store in New Jersey suggest that a U.S. debut may not be too far off. Stay tuned.
