The Nokia Lumia 1520 has starred in its fair share of leaks lately, including an encounter with ol' Mr. Blurrycam, a press render leak and even a photo shoot that stuck it in the middle of an Xperia Z and iPad mini. Nokia's phone/tablet hybrid is back in the news once again today, but this time the topic of conversation is the date on which the 1520 will make the leap from Leak Star to Official Lumia Family Member.
According to prolific detail dealer @evleaks, Nokia is planning to launch the 6-inch Lumia 1520 on Sept. 26, which lines up with a report from last month that claimed that Nokia plans to debut new hardware in late September. That also happens to be the same date that the Finnish firm will reportedly unveil its Windows RT-powered tablet, suggesting that the event will big in more ways than one. As far as availability goes, The Verge's Tom Warren suggests that a November release could be in the 1520's cards. The new Lumia is expected to be sold by AT&T in the U.S.
With its 6-inch 1080p display, the Lumia 1520 will likely be one of the first Windows Phones to feature the phone/tablet hybrid form factor that's been growing in popularity in the Android world. The Lumia 1520 is also said to include quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 32GB of storage. Overall it sounds like the 1520's got the makings of a pretty high-end smartphone. What will be interesting is seeing how many Windows Phone fans react to what may be the platform's very first phablet. I suppose that if today's leaks turn out to be true, we'll find out soon enough.
