The Nokia Lumia 1520 has followed the unofficial checklist of phone leaks pretty closely so far. We first got wind of the upcoming Windows Phone 8 device when it was codenamed "Bandit," then more details of it continued to trickle out in the form of a blurry "in the wild" image, which was then followed by an official-looking render. The next step in the Lumia 1520's leaky life is to show its face in some clear photos, and today that's precisely what has happened.
New images of the Lumia 1520 have been posted by The Verge that show off Nokia's new phone/tablet hybrid enjoying the great outdoors. The device is resting next to a Sony Xperia Z, which gives us a better idea of just how large the giganto-phone and its rumored 6-inch 1080p display will be. For reference, the Xperia Z features a 5-inch screen and measures 139 x 71 x 7.9mm.
The Lumia 1520 in these photos looks fairly similar to the unit that appeared in a leaked press render earlier this week, including the a Lumia 925-esque rear camera, a set of physical volume, power and camera keys on its side and a 6-inch touchscreen on its face. The owner of this particular Lumia 1520 claims that it's got a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 6-inch 1080p display, 32GB storage, microSD slot and 2GB RAM. On the software side of things, we can see that the phone is running the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update, which enables it to display an extra column of Live Tiles on its Start screen.
At this point, all of the leaks and images of the Lumia 1520 have given us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the device. Expected to be one of the first Windows Phone "phablets," the 1520 looks like a good device for WP8 fans that have been longing for their own taste of the phone/tablet hybrid form factor that's been big on Android for some time now. This thing could also be attractive to all of the spec hounds out there that want the latest and greatest smartphone hardware that they can get their paws on.
Nokia is reportedly planning to give the Lumia 1520 a proper introduction at an event later this month. Reports have suggested that this big guy will launch on AT&T here in the U.S., which wouldn't be a shock considering how many other Lumia phones have been released by Ol' Blue, but so far there's no word yet on how much it might cost at launch. Until we hear more, you can check out another photo of the Lumia 1520 below and hit up the source link for several more shots of the device lounging around.
UPDATE: More photos of the Lumia 1520 have been posted by The Verge. The new images show all of the device's sides as well as its nano-SIM card tray. There are also a few photos comparing the 1520 to the Xperia Z and iPad mini, one of which you can find below.
