Remember the HTC Mini? The small handset was introduced as an accessory to the 5-inch HTC Butterfly earlier this year that gave users access to much of their main phone's basic functionality without needing to whip the larger device out. Now HTC has prepared a follow-up to the Mini, appropriately dubbed the Mini+.
Like the original Mini before it, the Mini+ is an accessory that's meant to be paired to a primary smartphone over Bluetooth or NFC. Once connected, users will be able to take their calls on the Mini+ and receive notifications of text messages, emails and events on the Mini+'s 1.5-inch white color, 4 gray OLED display.
The Mini+ can also serve as a remote control for a television (in conjunction with the Sense TV app), a smartphone camera and HTC's Media Link HD streaming device. Rounding out the Mini+'s feature set is its ability to function as a presentation companion thanks to its built-in laser pointer and PowerPoint controls.
The HTC Mini+ measures 118.7 x 39.8 x 7.15mm in size and comes packing a 320mAh embedded battery that HTC says is good for 9 hours of talk time or 95 hours of standby. HTC has told The Verge that the Mini+ will debut sometime this winter, and while no official pricing has been announced, U.K. retailer Clove is currently accepting pre-orders for £54.16 ($83.85 USD).
The Mini+ isn't the only new accessory that HTC's cooked up. The Taiwanese firm has also prepared a small black square called the Fetch that's intended to help forgetful smartphone owners keep track of their expensive handset. Measuring 29.35 x 29.35 x 9.3mm, the Fetch connects to a device over Bluetooth 4.0 and can be worn on a keychain.
A button on the Fetch can activate the paired phone's ringtone if the two are within 15 meters of one another, and a warning beep can be set to play if they start to get out of range. The Fetch also remembers the last known location that it was with its paired device. Like the One Mini+, the Fetch can be used as a remote camera shutter as well.
HTC's Fetch includes a replaceable battery that's rated to last for 6 months. The unit is expected to launch later this year, and although there's no official price set, Clove is taking pre-orders for £24.99 ($38.74 USD).
