Motorola's Moto X officially launched in the U.S. on AT&T last week, but today is the day that one of the most notable features of the device is going live. Motorola is now accepting online orders for customized Moto X units through its Moto Maker customization tool. That means that AT&T customers can now mosey on over to the Moto Maker website and design their very own Moto X from scratch and have it delivered to their doorstep, all without leaving the comfort of their home keyboard. The delivery estimate for new orders is sitting at eight days as of this writing.

Just as in the AT&T stores, a 16GB Moto X will set buyers back $199.99 with a two-year commitment, while consumers that opt for the more capacious 32GB model will need to pony up $249.99. It is worth noting that Motorola is also offering contract-averse customers the option to order a customized Moto X through Moto Maker without signing a commitment. Pricing for the contract-free Moto X units is set at $579.99 for the 16GB model or $629.99 for the 32GB variant.

As I mentioned before, part of the appeal of the Moto X is being able to customize a unit through the Moto Maker website and have it shipped directly to you, so it's good to see that Moto Maker is now fully online and supporting no-contract purchases as well. The one downside is that Moto Maker is currently only available to AT&T customers, as the big blue carrier appears to have locked it up for an exclusivity period of unknown length. Verizon is set to launch the Moto X in black and white this Friday, and the carrier has promised that it will offer Moto Maker access "later this year."
