The Moto X officially landed on AT&T's shelves today, making the big blue carrier the first in the U.S. to offer Motorola's new flagship. None of the other operators that are slated to carry the Moto X have offered any insight as to when they'll start selling it, but according to one Motorola executive, non-AT&T customers won't be Moto X-less for long.
Punit Soni, VP of Product Management at Motorola, took to his Google+ page today to reshare Motorola's announcement that the Moto X is now available at AT&T. Soni added that this launch is just "step 1" of the device's rollout and that more carrier versions of the Moto X will arrive "in days." The Developer Editions of the Moto X are also expected to roll out soon.
One of the highlights of the Moto X is its widespread availability, with the device set to launch on all four major U.S. carriers as well as U.S. Cellular. As I said before, though, AT&T is the only one that's made any announcement regarding a release date, so all other U.S. wireless consumers have been stuck in the dark in regards to Moto X availability. Thankfully that sounds like it'll be changing soon.
We still don't know exactly when the Moto X will land on the shelves of other U.S. operators, but a recent leak suggested that Verizon's variant could land on Aug. 29. That's less than a week away, which would certainly fit within Soni's "in days" timeframe. Here's to hoping that the other carrier models are just as close.
