Looks like Aug. 23 will be a day of extremes at AT&T. Earlier the big blue carrier announced that day as the arrival date for its 6.3-inch Samsung Galaxy Mega, and now AT&T says that it'll also release the HTC One mini that day. The HTC One mini will be available exclusively at AT&T starting Friday, Aug. 23, for $99.99 with a two-year contract. Customers interested in AT&T's Next upgrade program will pay $21 per month for the One mini.
As its name suggests, the HTC One mini is like a shrunken down version of the HTC One that launched at AT&T back in April. The miniaturized handset sports a 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display, down from 4.7 inches on the One, as well as a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor and AT&T 4G LTE. Also included are the same UltraPixel rear camera and front-facing BoomSound speakers that are found on HTC's full-size One.
It's not exactly a surprise to hear that AT&T will be adding the HTC One mini to its shelves, but it's still good to finally get launch and pricing information from the folks in blue. With its 4.3-inch display, the One mini could be a good choice for AT&T customers that are in the hunt for a new smartphone that can easily be used with one hand, a feature that's increasingly hard to find with the rise in phone/tablet hybrid devices.
