Hot on the heels of a report that claimed that Apple's next full-size iPad will sport a thinner and lighter frame than previous models, a new leak has surfaced to back up that claim and a few other details. According to sources speaking to Bloomberg, the next iPad will sport an iPad mini-like design with thinner bezels than those found on the existing model. The same tipsters also claim that Apple is prepping a new iPad mini with "a high-resolution screen." Both devices are reportedly due before the end of 2013.
Several reports have already suggested that the new iPad will borrow the design of the iPad mini, but the rumor mill has been torn on whether or not the iPad mini will go Retina in 2013. One leak showed that Apple at least tested a version of the iPad mini without a Retina display, but today's report and one from earlier this month say that a Retina-fied mini is indeed coming this year. I'm sure that Apple would like to update the iPad mini with a Retina screen to better unify its flagship iOS products, but we'll just have to wait and see if the Cupertino firm can cram that display and a beefier battery inside the mini's frame without making it terribly thicker.
Today's report also corroborated the recent rumors of an iPhone event that'll go down on Sept. 10. This marks the third time in as many days that the Sept. 10 date has popped up, and while nothing's official until Apple says it is, at this point it might be safe to circle that date on your calendar with a pen rather than a pencil. Stay tuned and I'll give you a shout when Apple sends out the official invitations and it becomes safe to whip out that Sharpie.
