We're now just one day away from LG putting an end to its stream of teasers and officially taking the wraps off of its new flagship smartphone, the G2. As is usually the case with major product launches, though, being close to the announcement doesn't mean that the leaks will stop.
Today parts supplier ETrade Supply has posted a handful of photos that show what it claims to be the LCD and digitizer assembly for the LG G2. Just as in previous leaks, the G2 sports a large face with rounded corners, cutouts up top for the earpiece and front-facing camera and an LG logo at the bottom. Taking up most of the front is the G2's display, which is rumored to be a 5.2-inch 1080p panel with on-screen Android navigation buttons.
In addition to that 5.2-inch screen, the G2 is expected to pack a 13-megapixel rear camera (complete with volume and power/lock buttons beneath it), 2GB RAM and a 2,610mAh battery. LG has confirmed that the G2 will have a quad-core Snapdragon 800 heart as well, so the phone should be able to handle much of what users throw at it. Of course, we'll have to wait until we've got the G2 in our paws before we can make any judgments about its performance or those unique rear-mounted buttons. The good news is that it won't be long before LG's latest entry into the Android flagship battle is unveiled; LG's G2 event kicks off tomorrow, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. ET.
UPDATE: Korean publication MK News claims that LG may be planning to launch the G2 in Korea as soon as Aug. 8. As for those of us in the U.S., the report also suggests that LG has managed to get AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon on board with the G2, though there's no word yet on when those operators might launch the device.
