LG has been responsible for the lion's share of the smartphone teasers that we've seen as of late with all of its hints about the G2, but that's changing today. Hours after Samsung sent out invitations for an upcoming Unpacked 2013 event for its next Galaxy Note, HTC has taken to Twitter to tease that it's got "big things ahead." The Taiwanese firm also posted a brief Vine video that includes the messages "Here's To Change" and, strangely, "Happy Telephone Company" at the end.
There's not a lot of information in HTC's message to help us figure out what it's referring to, which is probably why they call it a teaser. However, HTC's hint about "big things ahead" combined with the recent HTC One Max leaks lead me to think that Peter Chou and Co. and gearing up to officially debut their 5.9-inch phone/tablet hybrid. The giganto-phone is rumored to feature a One-like design along with a 1080p display and quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, all of which add up to make a device that should have the spec hounds reaching for their wallets.
The most recent One Max leak suggested that the device could debut at IFA next month, and while there's no way of knowing whether or not that's accurate right now, the teaser posted today by HTC certainly suggests that an announcement isn't too far off. HTC's "Big Things Coming" Vine teaser is available below.
UPDATE: HTC has posted a new version of its teaser to YouTube, and while it doesn't really reveal any new information, it is slightly longer and higher quality. You can check it out below.
