The old saying goes "When it rains, it pours," and that would be a pretty accurate description of the new Nexus 7 leaks that we've been seeing lately. After being outed by numerous retailer documents, some "in the wild" photos, and press images, some additional shots of the unannounced tablet have surfaced. Posted by Android Police, the press renders show Google and ASUS's upcoming Nexus device at some more angles, giving us a better look at the body of the new Nexus 7 and its various features and ports.
As with previous leaks, we can see that the new Nexus 7 sports a notification light beneath its 7-inch 1920x1200 screen, which is displaying a new wallpaper in these leaked images. There's also a front-facing camera that's close to one of the display's corners rather than being centered directly above the screen.
The back of the new Nexus 7 also houses a camera, and on the side of the unit we can see what appears to be a SIM card slot, suggesting that we could see a cellular-enabled model at launch or soon after. Google offers a version of the current Nexus 7 with cellular connectivity, but that version wasn't released until several months after the debut of the Wi-Fi-only version.
The new Nexus 7 is expected to be announced at a Google event later this week and could go on sale later in July, with pricing set at $229 for the 16GB version and $269 for the 32GB model. The device's rumored spec sheet includes 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front cameras, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, SlimPort 1080p output, wireless charging, and Android 4.3. Overall the device sounds like a pretty respectable follow-up to the original Nexus 7, and if its rumored specs and pricing hold true, the new Nexus 7 could very well become the new go-to tablet for Android fans.
